You can use custom build scripts, but you never have to, because the AutoSense is so reliable. You don't have to fiddle around with any build scripts. It has its own live typesetting engine, which gives you a live preview of your document, as you type. One of the most underrated features IMO: It hides away all auxillary files in a hidden folder, including the synctex file! I haven't found any other editor that can hide the synctex file, and most even fail to hide some of the other auxillary files, especially when the project structure is more complicated/there are many compile steps involved. The TOC/project structure/compiler log are in the left sidebar, which you can toggle on and off very quickly.

You can very quickly switch between split view and full view with either code or pdf. It can do practically anything other prominent editors can, but it does some things way better, and has some very nice extra features.
